Whale Wars

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a direct action animal rights organization led by Captain Paul Watson, will get some well-deserved attention in an upcoming seven-part Animal Planet television series titled “Whale Wars,” set to premier November 7th.

Last winter, the crew prevented the Japanese from killing at least 300 whales, but not without a fight. The television show documents all the action, including a dramatic hostage situation, flash grenades, gunfire, and full-throttled chases through to antarctic seas.

Do you understand how excited I am for this?! Not that I have cable or anything but I love whales and I love reality TV shows… well kind of. I kind of stopped paying attention to most of them after Real World Hawaii (it was all about Ruthie), or maybe it was New Orleans (which was all about that Mormon chick, Julie?). Anyway, the Real World Hawaii house is right next door to my friend’s grandmother’s house near Diamond Head, and it’s much tinier than it seemed on TV. I also saw Paul Walker when I came in from surfing right near there also.

He is quite dreamy in person, I must say. Even though he’s a blonde. Oh well. I make exceptions here and there.
